Louise Mosrie: Music

Riverman

(Louise Mosrie)
Everyday he walks in silence
Down by the river
Rod and reel in hand
His eyes are dark like the water.

He says he loves the bayou
He loves his fishing boat too
The Mississippi sun’s burning on his skin as
He casts away his blues.

And I think I love this man
His life is simple.
His life makes sense.
He never asked for nothing from anyone, anyone, anyone...
River man.

Well, I’ve known him all my life
And yet he’s still a stranger
Since he took the river for his wife,
I’m just a jealous lover.

We meet at Maria’s at six.
Smell the fish fry, beer and cigarettes,
My day’s troubles still swimming in my head, but
His laugh makes me forget.
I just forget.

Yeah, I think I love this man
His life is simple.
And so complete
He never asked for nothing from anyone, anyone, not even me...
River man.

I see poetry in the lines of his hands
And if you knew him, I know you’d understand my
River man
